Call 1-800-771-7755 ( Attorney General)and report his ass. Space hunters and John McDermott are ripping off people. Attorney General needs your help to stop his business. Space Hunters has no license to conduct real estate business .His nasty attitude will kill you if you call him and want to ask him about his license.Please make sure you call attorney General if you want to stop this nasty man.

Rude Service
My niece was going to use Space Hunters to rent a room. She called & got all the info provided via their automated system. The info she receieved advised that the first month of rent (she was going to pay monthly), security deposit, & broker fee would need to be paid upfront. As a gift, I was planning on paying for her fisrt two months. I called Space Hunters to get the exact amount I would need to give my niece & to make an appt. When I got an agent on the phone he was very rude!!! I didnt even get to ask my question hardly...& when I did, he would not provide the answer! He abruptly told me that my niece needed to grow up & handle her own business. He told me he did not have time to talk to me b/c they were busty. I couldn't beleive. I called again & got the same man.This time, I plainly asked for a total for the 1st mo., security deposit, & broker fee.He said," They're different," & hung up on me. I could not beleive the disrespect! How do they treat their tenants?! Would never use!

HOW TO GET RID OF THIS BUSINESS
I called this so-called agency to find a room in Queens for a friend.
Space Hunters had, at that moment, 51 ads on Craigslist Queens Rooms/Shares category with slightly different first lines. (You could find all by searching for the last 4 of their phone number .. 3962.
As in the above posts, John was rude and when I was not ready to come in right away or send my friend, he put me thru to an announcement saying to call when ready to come in. $125 for the service in hand.
HOW TO KILL THIS BUSINESS: Look for all his ads by searching for 3962 in the text. Flag each one of them. He will die without Craigslist.

Everyone...read the other articles...this is a ripoff ! John, in our opinion, is the rudest most incompetent person we have ever had to deal with ever!!! He told us things that weren't accurate and was rude and insulting the entire time on the phone. We wasted our time and our friend's money.
You are better off doing your research on Craig's list and not wasting your money ...you are giving it to John by the way...you will hate yourself later!!!
Honestly, just read the articles and don't waste your money. Our friends experience with Spacehunters gave her a very bad opinion of NYC...we told her that John wasn't the person to base her opinion on...again, just read the other articles...can everyone be wrong LOL!!!

I met an older gentleman who was looking for space hunters inc. i pointed out the address location and help him across the street. After a few minutes i noticed that he could open the door and went back to help him. i press the intercom button and Mr. Mcdermott started cursing at me. i get upset and decided to go up and report him to his manager. He was the only person that i saw. He started to belittle me calling me names and i think he wanted me to attack him. I figuer that he was he was mental or high on drugs, because that is the only reason that would try to pick a fight with someone that out wieght him by 100 lbs. i left to try to find a police officer.
